If even established sample testing procedures do not work, there is no need to give up on the whole situation. With more than 25 years of experience in the laser marking industry, we are able to find a way and the most efficient one for the customer. This was not the case with this customer from North Bohemia.

As a specialist in laser technology since 1993, Lintech can offer great experience in the field of part marking, engraving and design of identification solutions. This experience is particularly evident in the area of tuning parameters to the materials in question so that the application result is as visually pleasing as possible, the application time is as short as possible, the marking is as durable as possible and the most efficient laser equipment is used if the project is required to be as cost-effective as possible.
The same was the case when we recently tested the description of a plastic sensor housing for our customer from North Bohemia. However, the situation was slightly different due to the badly behaving marking on this special kind of elastic plastic. That is, neither the most commonly used type of fiber laser nor the green laser with a wavelength of 532nm interacted with the plastic. The laser beam partially passed through the plastic, partially stopped on it, thermally deformed it, but unfortunately did not mark the desired electronic diagram. Since we have already encountered in our practice a number of plastics that cannot be marked, because they do not have the appropriate chemical composition (there is not enough carbon and other elements) and the light of a given wavelength does not interact with the material, it was necessary to find a supplier of additives to the plastic granulate so that the material is suitable for the description.
After consultation with the customer, the plastic material manufacturer was contacted, additives were added to promote white contrast in interaction with the laser beam and new samples were tested.
As expected, after the addition of the admixture, it was possible to mark the enclosure with a 1064nm wavelength fiber laser with very good contrast, and the entire electrical circuit was completed within 2-6 seconds depending on the thickness of the lines. These can be adjusted by the customer as required. This technology can thus replace the cost, time and space consuming swab marking, which has not been effective for several years. In addition, laser marking stands out for its durability and longevity. In addition, laser equipment runs at minimal annual costs and is highly variable for all types of marking and materials that the customer may mark in the future.
