Laser marking of brass

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc and behaves similarly to copper in laser marking. However, due to its zinc content, it has a higher heat absorption and therefore less energy is required for marking. The strength of brass is not very high, but quite sufficient for many applications.

Use of brass

Brass is used in a wide range of industries:

  • jewellery and decorative applications.

When used in the jewellery industry, it is also possible to use various thermal options to laser tarnish the material and colour the surface in many shades.
