The principle of laser marking of titanium
In marking, titanium behaves very close to stainless steel. The colour and contrast of the marking is influenced by the amount of energy (heat) delivered to the surface of the material. With the correct laser setting, colour marking in shades from gold to blue can be achieved without damaging the surface material.
Areas of titanium application
Titanium is widely used in aerospace, medical and jewellery applications due to its properties, especially its light weight, hardness and high corrosion resistance. It is less frequently used in industrial production. In the engineering and electrical industries, it tends to be too expensive a metal. Nevertheless, titanium can be marked if necessary.
