How we extended the life of our stamps 15 times without changing the pressing technology

Customer requirements:

• increase the lifetime of the marking without loss of legibility,
• eliminate complaints related to the visibility of markings after painting,
• Maintain existing press parameters (the production process cannot be changed).

The customer provided us with several stamps from different periods. We have analysed the damage in our laboratory.

Problems identified:

• The characters were polished, not milled.
• The geometry of the characters was inappropriate – sharp transitions and insufficient angles.
• Insufficient depth and incorrect profile caused the blades to break off quickly.

Our solution:

• Production of new stamps by milling technology with optimized character profile.
• Use of quality tooling material according to our internal standards.
• Test series 2+2 pcs for direct comparison in production.

Result:

• Our punches have reached a lifetime of 750,000 pieces – 15 times more than the original solution.
• The marking remains legible even after the surface treatment of the CTL.
• Complaints about punches have been completely eliminated.
