Laser engraving enables the precise creation of motifs to a depth of material reaching a high design level using pulsed lasers even with relatively low average power.

The principle is based on repeated evaporation of the surface material to achieve depths typically in the order of units to hundreds of micrometers. The aim is thus to create a variety of plastic ornaments in the surface of the material with a depth of more than1 mm.

Although sublimation of the material surface can be time consuming (especially when creating larger and deeper patterns), the use of pulsed lasers with higher average power can significantly reduce the time of the engraving process.

Areas of application

Laser engraving is used in a wide range of industries. Although metals are among the most commonly engraved materials, laser engraving applications can also be applied to other materials such as plastics, ceramics, wood, etc.
