Engraving station for long aluminium parts

Due to the size of the parts to be labelled and their different shapes and dimensions, the machine was designed with a long labelling chamber in combination with an extendable drawer that can accommodate any length of aluminium pieces, the larger part of which protrudes out of the machine.

Proposal for a solution

According to the customer’s requirements, a machine was designed, consisting of the following parts:

Stand-alone single-purpose station with a large enough working area for all the described aluminium pieces, complete with extraction equipment
70W fibre laser with 110x110mm marking field and two motorised axes – Z axis for adjusting the laser focus either to the laser chamber for shorter pieces or to the drawer for longer pieces and X axis for correct positioning of the code in the longer axis of the part
Pilot laser to verify accurate tool setting as part of the marking laser
2D code reader for correct identification of the marked piece by code
Extraction equipment with filter regeneration

Description of basic machine functions

When the straight long profiles are inserted using the drawer, they are marked with a unique predetermined code. Parts up to 1000 mm will be inserted from the front of the machine, through a pneumatically opening door. Once marked, the DMX code will be scanned and sent to the system.

Since 2017 we have purchased 3 laser marking stations from LINTECH. The machines have been designed to suit our type of production (piece production of steel components for mechanical seals), i.e. with an emphasis on variability and easy reconfiguration. The machines work as they should. The change in marking technology has also brought time savings in the process and comfort of work (after breaking through the initial resistance, the change was positively received by the operators).
