Identification, verification, ergonomics

This time our long-standing partner requested marking of the plastic boxes that serve as electronics covers. The entire process had to be controlled and monitored in all respects to ensure that the wrong part was not marked and, in addition, that the machine itself checked that it had described the part correctly. This control of the marking is necessary in order to control the entire production process and all its parts. The machine is part of a complete digital line that includes several robotic cells. The LinLZS single-purpose marking station thus helps to speed up production and to identify the parts being processed in a high-quality and consistent manner.

Krkonošský deník recently reported about the entire digital line of our customer, more in the following link.

Proposed solution:

According to the customer’s requirements, a machine was designed, consisting of the following parts:

  • stand-alone single-purpose station with large working space
  • PLC control module – SIEMENS SIMATIC S7
  • LED monitor, keyboard, mouse
  • Barcode reader (for reading the correct laser and verification program according to the article)
  • laser module – laser type LLS-F 20P
  • verification module – SIEMENS Simatic camera
  • calibration plate for verifier
  • workbench suitable for antistatic environments
  • interchangeable fixtures for the foundation of articles
  • extraction equipment
  • box for defective products with automatic part exclusion
  • two angled adjustable holders for material boxes

Description of the basic functions of the machine:

After the part is placed on the slide (position 1) and the production process is started, the part is moved to position 2, the cover of the marking chamber is closed and the separating partition between the lasing and verification area is closed (this area is sucked downwards or to the side due to impurities generated by the laser). Subsequently, the part is described by the laser. The partition opens and the part is automatically moved to the verification position (position 3). If the part is verifiably OK, it is pushed out to position 1 and removed by the operator. The evaluated defective part is automatically discarded into the defective parts box.

The progress and results of the individual processes (description + verification) are displayed on the computer monitor. The logs with the resulting description times for each execution are stored in a text file.

Benefits:

  • multiple process control
  • checking the presence and shape of the parts
  • permanent, fast and accurate description of plastic parts
  • verification of marked codes and display back on the monitor
  • huge editing capability of the description, easy change of the description mask parameters in the marking software
  • ergonomic operation of the machine, both when using the software and when inserting and removing parts
  • very high quality and durability of all components used
  • safety protection of the laser chamber and the entrance chamber to prevent injury
